Cashew can served nutritional, medical as well as industrial needs. Similarly, it is observed that recently it is used in the manufacture of adhesives, resins and natural insecticides.
The objective in processing cashew nuts is to remove the highest possible weight of kernels from the nut in-shell, unbroken and with the distinctive light ivory cashew color. It is a food product so the taste should remain as natural as possible and the process should be done in a safe manner.
Process :
• Raw Cashew Nuts are graded into different sizes with the help of grading machine.
• The graded cashew are fed into the hopper and with bucket elevator, the nuts are passed through shelling process.
• Shelling is the removal of dry roasted shell. By striking the head of the nut, the natural line of cleavage is broken.
• While shelling the nuts, there is a chance of breaking kernels.
• Once the nuts shelled, the same are passed through separator in order to get it separated as per grades.
• The processed cashew gets peeled and then moves towards packing section.
